THE HOUSE OF IVAN GROHAR

You can find the house of impressionist painter Ivan Grohar in Spodnja Sorica in Selška valley.

The house he was born in stands in the middle of the village and keeps a small collection of items associated with Grohar, and an ethnographic collection as well as a gallery.

The local church, dedicated to Saint Nicholas, also contains some of Grohar’s early paintings and there is a statue of him nearby. Spodnja Sorica is known as one of the prettiest villages in Slovenia.

It lies on the starting point of the Julian Alps, so the scenery is unforgettable.
