Kloštrgajst is an alcoholic beverage made up of about 40 different plants and cosists about 40 vol.% of alcohol, making it “80m proof”. In Škofja Loka it was originally fermented and distilled by nuns in the Nunnery. Today only one family in Škofja Loka that lives in immediate vicinity of the old Nunnery church has the recipe for Kloštrgajst. So the recipe remains a mystery passed down from generation to generation. Kloštrgajst is a well kept secret in the local community. Maybe you get a taste of it, maybe you don’t. Enjoy!
