Jan Plestenjak is From Škofja Loka

Jan Plestenjak spent his childhood in Škofja Loka in the village of Puštal. He started playing the guitar as a child. He attended the Lower Musical School in Škofja Loka, and later studied guitar at Secondary School of Music and Ballet in Ljubljana.

During high school, he performed in the jazz group Interaction Jazz Group and collaborated with Quatebriga group, and the Big Band of RTV Slovenia. At the age of eighteen, he was admitted to Boston’s Berklee College of Music. He continued his studies at the Klagenfurt Conservatory.

In his rich career, he had more than 1000 concerts attended by over 1 million visitors. He has released over 200 songs and has 7 gold and 4 platinum records. Jan currently lives in the Primorska region in the village of Strunjan.

In 2009 he released his new album entitled Klasika where he arranged his old hits and new songs with symphonies. In 2011, he received the Victor Award for Most Popular Music Artist.

His biography entitled Laughter and Tears, written by journalist Jaka Lucu, was published in 2005.
